We are a part of something bigger!

We are all members of the United States Women of Today.

We, the United States Women of Today are dedicated to serving our community and nation, are committed to strengthening our individual talents, and stand united by our friendship and belief in the future.

  • The mission of the United States Women of Today is to provide state and local member chapter opportunities in the areas of leadership training, personal growth, community service and work in partnerships with established foundations.
  • 2010 marks the 25th Anniversary of the United States Women of Today. Following a Supreme Court ruling which allowed women full membership in the United States Jaycees, the Women of Today organization was born.
  • At the time of the ruling, the then Jaycee Women organization held the position as an auxiliary to the Jaycee organization. Once the Jaycees could admit women as full members, the future of the Jaycee Women as an auxiliary group was uncertain. Not wanting to see what they had worked so hard for die, it took many countless hours of deliberation on the part of the Jaycee Women members and their dealers to finally make the decision to dissolve the United States Jaycee Women.
  • Following the dissolution of the Jaycee Women, many of it's members felt very strongly about serving their communities and giving other women the opportunity to grow personally. From these needs and desires the ground work for the United States Women of Today was built. July 1, 1985 marks the inception of the United States Women of Today, and each year on July 1, Founder's Day is celebrated by Women of Today chapters across the nation.
  • The United States Women of Today, an organization open to all persons at least eighteen years of age, credits it's roots to the Jaycee Women. The focus is the same, only the name has been changed. Over the past twenty years, since becoming Women of Today, we have been able to continue our work even though we struggle to gain identity with a new name. Our aim is to meet the needs of our communities in which we live, as well as the people within them. The Women of Today service doesn't stop there. Even though volunteering is based on service to others, we know to be a good "server" you must also serve yourself, which is another aspect of what this organization is all about.
  • In the sixteen states currently hosting Women of Today chapters, service is shown through educational and fundraising activities to benefit foundations such as Arthritis, Leukemia, Cystic Fibrosis, Cancer, Kidney, Lupus, MS and many other medically related charities. Our work continues through assisting Make-a-Wish, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, and services to aid the mentally and physically challenged to name a few. But some of the most important work this group does happens right at home, where the Women of Today can be seen helping the family who lost their home to fire, the family who can't meet medical expenses associated with Leukemia, the school and park that needs new swings, the volunteer fire department that needs life-saving equipment, the library that needs new books, needs for the homeless, the highway that needs cleaning or the community building or elderly person's home that needs painting. The list is as endless and diverse as it's members.
  • Women of Today also serves as a training ground for our country's leaders. The Women of Today provide training programs to it's members where they can learn effective verbal and written communication skills, how to be a dynamic leader, how to organize and prioritize, to manage finances and stress, how to strengthen the American family, how to understand others and ourselves - physically, mentally and spiritually.
  • The over 5,000 members who serve through the Women of Today our diverse. Members include Doctors, Lawyers, Housewives, Secretaries, Clergy, Teachers, the welfare mother down the street, the student and the business owner to name a few. There is no "typical" Women of Today.
To accomplish their varied tasks, the Women of Today pull together and enlist the assistance of not only their members, but also work side by side with other organizations such as the Scouts, Rotarians, Chamber of Commerce, Jaycees, schools, universities, churches, as well as veteran and fraternal organizations. Not often are the group's challenges left unfulfilled.
  • Why? Because no matter what it takes, the Women of Today will be there. How do they do it? Through Fund-raisers, "drives", seminars and social events. By walking many miles and staying awake countless hours, swimming in Jell-O and doing the imaginable and quite often the unimaginable; but no matter the cost, no need is left unmet.
  • Annually hundreds-of-thousands of dollars and countless hours are given in the spirit of making our world a better place, because we lived and served within it.
